The Person behind the Character:
Name: Lili
Nickname: Lilikins... and more that I can't think of right now.
Age: 14
Location: United States
The Character:
Name: Nora Catherine Ford
Played By: Emmy Rossum
Age: 21
Ex-House: Ravenclaw
Role: Divination professor and member of the Order of the Pheonix
Personality: As a child, Nora was always the quiet and polite child. She rarely spoke, which made it hard for people to get to know her. She constantly felt like she was invisible. She had very few friends, and so, with not many to stick up for her, she became the target of rumors and whispering. People would always call her "the weird girl" or "the odd-ball" or "the girl who doesn't talk." She was too timid to stick up for herself, so she endured the teasing and namecalling through most of her Hogwarts years.
When she was a seventh year, Nora's father was murdered by the dark lord. In the few weeks after his death, she decided to turn her life around. Her father was at the young age of 43 when he passed away, and Nora knew that she could die at an even younger age. She decided not to waste her life by being known as "the girl who never talks." Her seventh year at Hogwarts, she no longer had to listen to the whispers and name-calling.
Nora was always booksmart, even as a child. For that reason, it was an obvious career path for her to become a teacher. As soon as she got out of Hogwarts at age seventeen, she returned and requested the job of Divination professor. Divination had always been her favorite and best subject, so she got the job almost on the spot. Nora is a very fair teacher, but will not put up with any disrespect or rudeness in her classroom. From the years of listening to people be rude to her from behind her back, she will not tolerate it now.
Appearance:
Nora is a spitting image of her mother. Her brown hair falls in unruly curls down a bit past her shoulders, and her eyes look like pools of melted chocolate. Despite the dark coloring of her hair and eyes, Nora's skin is pale, with only the slightest sign of a tan. That is the part of her that comes from her father. Her mother is dark skinned and tans easily, while Nora and her father are the exact opposite. When the sun hits them, they burn red instead of tanning brown. Nora has never had a problem with pimples or blemishes, like most teenagers did. She considers it a very fortunate, yet unusual, stroke of luck.
Nora has a petite build. She is not exactly tall, although she would not be called short by most. She is extremely skinny, although she does not know why. She was never exactly an active person, so her size surprises her more then anyone.
History: Catherine Meyers and Richard Ford met at Hogwarts in their 5th year. Catherine was a Ravenclaw perfect, at the top of her class, and Richard was a Gryffindor prankster. The first time they met, Catherine was giving Richard a detention for setting off a dungbomb in the corridor between classes. Nora doesn't exactly know what followed. All she knows is that they ended up getting married, and Nora was born three years after the marriage.
Nora was an only child, so she never had anyone her own age around. Because of this, she was very mature for her age. Instead of going outside to play with the other children of the neighborhood, Nora would sit at the table with her father, read the Daily Prophet and discuss what was going on in the wizarding world. Nora was very close to both of her parents, but her father moreso then her mother.
When Nora's father was murdered, for a few days it seemed as if her world was collapsing around her. Since they were so close, it was hard to imagine life without him. She knew that he would not want her to mourn his loss for too long, and he always told her that she should try and make friends rather then sit and talk with him. That was part of the reason for Nora's drastic change in personality in seventh year. She knew her father wouldn't want her to isolate herself away from the world, so she did what she thought he would want.
